This weekend, Southampton Arts Center (SAC) is celebrating fashion icons and legends with two film events that take a deeper look into those who have helped shape the industry.
On Friday, August 13, at 7 p.m., creator of New York Fashion Week Fern Mallis will lead a panel discussion with Wendy Finerman, Academy Award-winning producer of “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Forrest Gump,” Tom Florio, former publisher of Vogue, and Robert Verdi, fashion entrepreneur and TV personality. Following the discussion, there will be a screening of “The Devil Wears Prada,” starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. This event is $10 (free for SAC members).
On Sunday, August 15, at 7:30 p.m., SAC will screen “The Gospel According to André” by filmmaker Kate Novack. The film explores the life and career of fashion journalist André Leon Talley — from his childhood in the segregated South to his iconic, barrier-breaking work at Women’s Wear Daily, W and Vogue. This screening is $15 ($10 for SAC members).
Attendees are asked to bring their own beach chairs or blankets for these outdoor events. Register online at southamptonartscenter.org/film. Southampton Arts Center is at 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton.
