New Sag Harbor District Clerk Appointed — Again
The school board on Monday appointed a new district clerk, Victoria Handy, who becomes Sag Harbor’s fourth district clerk in the last six months.
Ms. Handy is a veteran school board member herself, having served from 2007 to 2016 on the Amagansett School Board, including three years as its president.
Her appointment is effective Monday, June 12, and follows the resignation of Corinne Jones, a retired Sag Harbor district clerk who stepped in on May 1 to temporarily help out. Ms. Jones followed Carol Dray, who served from February 3 through April 30. Ms. Dray succeeded Mary Adamczyk, who served many years as both the district clerk and superintendent’s secretary before moving full-time into the secretary role.
Ms. Handy has a degree in accounting and has worked as a business teacher and in a school business office. Sag Harbor superintendent Katy Graves said she came highly recommended from the Amagansett superintendent, Eleanor Tritt.
“It’s almost like she has had experience in all three aspects of schools —within the classroom, within the operations of the business office and from the perspective of being a school board member,” Ms. Graves said. “I think that will really give her a broad, thoughtful perspective as a clerk to the school board. We’re excited about her.”
