Nava Named OLA Development & Outreach Associate
OLA of Eastern Long Island announced this week it has hired Itzel Nava as its first Development and Outreach Associate.
Ms. Nava moved to Southampton in 1998 along with her family looking to pursue a better life. In 2009, she started volunteering for the Kid-too-Kid Foundation. An organization that helps meet the basic fundamental needs of under privileged children by providing them with school supplies and tutoring support. She recently graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications.
“Itzel has enthusiasm for this work that is centered on a community she cares for deeply”, says Minerva Perez, Executive Director of OLA. “She is the perfect example of reverse brain drain. Seeing our college grads returning to our towns to bring their newfound skills and passions is a trend we want to encourage,” continues Minerva Perez.
Ms. Nava will work on volunteer coordination, social media and marketing, community outreach and event coordination for OLA.
OLA of Eastern Long Island is an advocacy organization that promotes the social, economic, cultural and educational development of the Latino community on the East End of Long Island.
