Gene Casey will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House on May 5.

Singer/songwriter Gene Casey, the front man of the Lone Sharks, will perform on May 5 at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House as part of the “Songwriters Share” concert series that gives back to the community.

In its third year, the series features local artists in an intimate setting and shares the proceeds with a charity of their choice. Casey has chosen to donate to East End Hospice. Admission is $15 and includes a complimentary reception.

Tricia Scotti, who performed alongside Casey at last month’s concert at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, will support him on guitar and duet and harmony vocals. The pair will perform songs from his new CD “Guitar In The Rain,” which will be available for purchase at the show.

In the summer of 2015, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame awarded Mr. Casey with the coveted Long Island Sound Award, or “LISA,” for “outstanding contributions to Long Island’s (and beyond) music community.”

For 25 years, Mr. Casey has fronted the Lone Sharks, one of the tri-state area’s premier roots rock & roll bands. He has “played — and torn up — virtually every roadhouse, bar and honky-tonk from Manhattan to Montauk,” according to BOP Magazine, has performed with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Wanda Jackson and other legends, and produced several CDs of self-penned songs that reflect an original takes from classic rockabilly, country and western and R&B traditions.

Mr. Casey, who moved to Sag Harbor from New York City in 1988, has since relocated to the North Fork and maintains a year-round busy performance schedule both with the Lone Sharks and as a solo act.

“Whether taking on rockabilly, country, western swing or the blues, Gene and the boys performed like they were sharing the bill with Buddy Holly,” Howard Thompson, musical director for WPKN-FM, said in a review. “Tunes made famous by Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Bo Diddley and others mingled with homegrown originals, and every thing fit seamlessly.”

The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House is located at 977 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike. For more information, visit lonesharks.com or call (631) 965-1841.
